Promoting a natural alternative to chemical head lice treatments

Report: Permethrin & phenothrin (page 13 of 28)

Permetherin has been classified as a potential carcinogen by the US Environmental Agency. And German studies have linked both phenorthrin and permetherin to leukaemia, lymphoid cancer and multiple chemical sensitivity.

full marksPermetherin is the active ingredient in ‘Lyclear’. And phenothrin is used in ‘Full Marks’.

Manufacturers of insecticidal lotions point out that these studies use concentrations far higher than recommended doses. And that medically-confirmed cases of serious side effects are very rare.

But they do occur, particularly when the instructions haven’t been followed, and treatments have been regularly repeated.
